After 20 years of teaching English, I spent one summer looking for another job, anything besides teaching (It's called burn-out and happens even to the best.) I was offered a job and discovered to my utter shock that I could not leave teaching. The thought made me ill. I was called to teach. My goal as a teacher was to make English relevant across the classes. I based my vacations and educational enrichment around what I taught.
