I grew up playing soccer and was very involved in the soccer community. When I wasn't practicing or playing, I spent a lot of time coaching younger kids. I assisted both boys and girls teams, and refereed for children of all ages. That's where I got my start working with children. I think starting out coaching in an athletic setting made for a perfect transition into teaching in an academic one.
