As a professor in the field of Developmental Psychology, I spent 30+ years studying how children, adolescents, and adults think about and learn about mathematical ideas. I have written two books on the topic. Since retiring from my university position, I have begun working with individual students who need help with their math studies. As a tutor, my emphasis is on helping students to make sense of mathematics in an engaging way. I use visual materials, manipulatives, and games to make the lea
