My career started with a passionate belief that everyone should have the opportunity to learn and capitalize on their own unique strengths to become successful, contributing members of our society. My first encounter with those that had not been given this opportunity started with my organizing a swimming program at my university for individuals that had special needs. It was amazing that there was no public education, at that time, for these individuals, young and old. They learned on the stree
